Eagle CAD

The new release of pcb-gcode.ulp for Eagle Cad normally used to create pcbs (ver. 3.6.0.4), downloadable from cadsoft website, doesn't offer more functionalities of the previous versions but it is certainly clearer. This version is characterized by a new visual interface and a preview of the tracks to be milled.

To realize a test we have quickly created a sample pcb (a very simple circuit using a 5V regulator):

Naturally the downloaded zip must be uncompressed inside the directory ulp of eagle-cad. Executing the pcb-gcode-setup.ulp we have immediately to set two important parameters: Units (millimeters in our case) and Gcode style (linux EMC).

Now we can set ut our preferences, particularly regarding the position of the 'Z'axis according to the cnc milling machine:

The main screen sets a very important parameter: the etching tools size and the isolation. Using a maximum isolation of 0 the script generates only a single track while using different values of isolation the cript will generate, accoring to the tools used, a certain number of tracks to reach the maximum isolation value.

At the end of the job, just pressing 'accept and make the board' all tracks and drills gcode files are generated and, if set, a preview is shown..

Frankly speaking, not really clear, but gives an idea of the final results. In any case the routine crash using linux ... we hope next version will solve the problem.
